Staying Cool in Flagler County This Summer: A Family Guide to Fun in the Sun!

Summer in Florida means sunshine, warmth, and a whole lot of fun! Here in Flagler County, we're fortunate to have incredible options to beat the heat and enjoy those long, sunny days. As your local Realtor, I often get asked about family-friendly activities and ways to stay cool, and I'm thrilled to share my top three picks for making the most of summer in Flagler County.

Whether you're a long-time resident or considering making our beautiful city your new home, these spots are essential for keeping refreshed and entertained!

1. Splash Pad at Holland Park: A Kids' Paradise

For families with younger children, the Splash Pad at Holland Park is an absolute lifesaver (and a whole lot of fun!). Located within the sprawling Holland Park complex (18 Florida Park Dr N, Palm Coast), this vibrant splash pad is designed to delight little ones with its playful water features.

  • What to Expect: Kids can play with various water spouts, all in a safe, zero-depth environment. It's the perfect spot for toddlers and elementary-aged children to cool off without the worries of deep water.

  • Amenities: Holland Park itself offers much more than just the splash pad. You'll find multiple playgrounds, picnic pavilions, walking trails, and even a dog park, making it a fantastic destination for a full day of family fun. Restrooms and parking are readily available.

  • Operating Hours (Summer 2025): Typically, the splash pad operates daily during daylight hours throughout the summer season. It's always a good idea to check the City of Palm Coast Parks & Recreation website for the most current schedule, as hours can be subject to change due to maintenance or weather.

  • Cost: Free!

2. Frieda Zamba Community Pool: Dive into Fun

For those looking for a more traditional swimming experience, the Frieda Zamba Community Pool (339 Parkview Dr, Palm Coast) is an excellent resource for residents of all ages. Named after a local surfing legend, this public pool offers a refreshing escape from the summer heat.

  • What to Expect: The pool features a lap swimming area, a shallower section for recreational swimming, and often has dedicated times for open swim. It's a great place for individuals to exercise, families to play, and even for swim lessons.

  • Amenities: The facility typically includes locker rooms, showers, and shaded areas around the pool deck.

  • Operating Hours & Fees (Summer 2025): The Frieda Zamba Community Pool generally has specific open swim hours and offers various membership options (daily, monthly, seasonal) for residents and non-residents. It’s highly recommended to visit the City of Palm Coast Parks & Recreation website or call the facility directly for the most up-to-date schedule and fee structure. Lifeguards are always on duty during open swim hours.

3. Flagler Beach: Our Ocean Oasis

And of course, no "staying cool" guide for Palm Coast would be complete without mentioning Flagler Beach! Just a short, scenic drive across the Hammock Dunes Bridge, Flagler Beach offers miles of pristine, coquina-dusted shoreline and the vast, refreshing Atlantic Ocean.

  • What to Expect: Whether you're a surfer catching waves, a family building sandcastles, or simply someone who loves to relax by the ocean, Flagler Beach provides the ultimate natural cooling system. The sea breeze is a constant comfort, and the ocean water is perfect for swimming, bodyboarding, or just wading at the edge.

  • Amenities: Flagler Beach boasts free public parking (though it fills up quickly on busy days!), numerous public beach access points, restrooms, outdoor showers, and a charming pier with a bait shop and restaurant. The casual, vibrant atmosphere of A1A with its beachfront restaurants and shops adds to the experience.

  • Cost: Free access to the beach. Parking is generally free on the street, but paid parking lots are available if preferred.

  • Safety Tip: Always be aware of current surf conditions, rip currents, and jellyfish advisories. Swim near lifeguard stations when available.

This summer, don't let the heat keep you indoors! Flagler County offers fantastic opportunities to cool off, have fun, and make lasting memories. As your local real estate expert, I believe these amenities significantly enhance the appeal of our community. If you're looking to make Flagler County your home and enjoy all these fantastic resources year-round, don't hesitate to reach out!
